Welcome to the home of ballroom dancing!
Templeton Dance Studio is the Sunshine Coast’s longest-running premier ballroom dancing centre, born from a love of dancing and the connection it provides among enthusiastic dancers.
With Templeton Dance Studio, proprietor and principal John Templeton endeavoured to create a studio facility and environment that he would be proud to learn and teach in, culminating in this exceptional studio with its vibrant atmosphere.
Operating for over 35 years, we offer the highest quality tuition, accommodating all dancing levels and situations – from the simplest of steps for the first time dancer to the choreographic masterpieces of champions.
Social dancing, medal examinations, private tuition, group tuition, wedding/special occasion tuition, children’s tuition and all levels of competition training are provided at Templeton Dance Studio.
Our students’ growth is our top priority and we are passionate about helping them reach their goals, no matter how big or small (or how often they change). We are proud of all our students and their achievements and take great pride in having trained local, Queensland, Australian and South-pacific champions – our competitors having competed all around the world!

Templeton Dance Studio offers one of Australia’s only privately owned, purpose-built ballrooms. The ballroom offers a full competition-sized sprung timber floor, acoustics, lighting, change rooms, canteen and elevated stage.
Set on a working Ginger Farm just outside the Eumundi township, it is safe to say you will never find another ballroom quite like ours!

John Templeton
John Templeton is a true pioneer of ballroom dancing on the Sunshine Coast. Although a late starter in his professional dancing career, John started dancing at an early age at a community level with his family and partnering debutantes.
After applying his hands and feet to many different sports and working on the family business of ginger growing, he started learning the art of ballroom dancing from Kevin Spinose and Trevor Mott. John began his amateur competition career at 35, culminating in him and his partner winning the South Pacific Open Latin in 1979.
After turning professional in 1980, John purchased his studio from a retiring Trevor and became the proprietor and principle coach. In 1982, he centralised his Ginger, Beef operations to Eumundi and he built the grand ballroom alongside his home and ginger processing facility where Templeton Dance Studio has been situated for over 35 years.
John has inspired dancing in many people, young and old. His four children all dance and have had very successful competitive careers. John in his 70s still dances every day and competes in most competitions in QLD.
